Cai Shen Ye, one of the gods of wealth most associated with gambling, is evoked in the title of this slot but less so on the reels. The beautifully rendered imagery is more generically Chinese: fish kites and holed coins make up a background to the reels, on which each symbol is a disk, which has been drawn to look almost like traditional jade carvings.
It is really more style than theme but it works for this slot.
The graphics are pretty flawless. There is a sense of class about almost every aspect of this slot, from the circular symbol designs to the small but clear animations that highlight winning combos. Everything has an effortlessness about it.
The "almost" in "almost every aspect" must be stressed, because the music is a nightmarishly upbeat loop that can’t be more than a few bars long and will drive the sturdiest of players insane in no time at all.
Cai Shen Ye is a perfect example of simplicity done right. It is a five reel slot machine with three rows per reel.
The any way wins system means that players simply count symbols in adjacent reels starting from reel one and going leftwards without worrying about win lines.
An additional nice touch is that each symbol on the fifth reel (also called the Money Shot reel) has a numerical value on it. If a player hits five of a kind, then the win is for the coin value multiplied by that symbol's numerical value.
The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter symbol and appears only on the middle three reels.
Three or four Scatter symbols in one spin will trigger the Free Spin bonus. The player is awarded either nine free spins for three Scatters or twenty-seven free spins for four.
During the free spin bonus, the middle reel is held still and consists of three Wild symbols.
The return to player of this game is a whopping 97.31%. This is well over our yardstick for average of roughly 96%.
The range of bets on the site we tested ran from a minimum bet per spin of $/£/€0.50 up to a maximum of $/£/€250.00 per spin.
The volatility of this game is very high, which makes it an awesome slot to use with our slot machine strategies.
Cai Shen Ye is an immensely popular slot, and for good reason. The simple but beautiful visuals complement solid gameplay and excellent design.
When you add to this the fact that the RTP is well above average and the volatility is perfect for our preferred slot strategies, you can see why we give this game our full recommendation.
