Zeus II rains down thunder and lightning on you and your ancient Greek allies, in this somewhat aging slot machine.
Gods of Thunder seem popular in the world of slot machines. Thor does a roaring trade, as does Zeus the Greek God and titular character of Zeus II.
As you might expect the resulting slot is a mix of ancient Greek and pseudo-Greek artefacts mixed in with a few Zeus related images.
It's a common enough theme, rendered here pretty well.
The graphics do look a little bit mid-2000s evoking the art style of the strategy game of the same title. This results in the slot looking dated rather than retro.
However, it is a bright, cleanly designed slot and despite the age it is showing, is still not bad looking.
The music is simple, atmospheric and above all not so intrusive as to become annoying if you end up playing for more than a few minutes.
The design is overall functional more than attractive.
Zeus II is a five-by-four slot machine with fifty paylines. In most regards it is a fairly typical slot with little to make it stand out.
The game has a couple of features, Free Bonus spins (see below for details) and a respin feature in which, should you land Zeus symbols on all four positions in reel one, you trigger two Hot Hot Super Respins in which all the Zeus and Wild symbols are held in position while the two respins occur.
Beyond these, the game is undistinguished in the gameplay arena.
The Wild symbol stands in for any symbol except the Scatter.
Three Scatter symbols trigger ten free bonus spins in which the number of Wilds and high paying Zeus symbols are increased.
Free spins can be retriggered.
These features are pretty basic, which is not necessarily a turn off for us, but it does mean that Zeus II is competing against a vast pool of games with similar kinds of features.
Zeus II is a medium volatility slot, which is not especially encouraging. We prefer high volatility in slots we recommend, as high volatility works better with our preferred strategies.
The return to player is a decent but not outstanding 96.77%.
Zeus II takes 40 coins to play the 50 pay-lines. The site we tested offered a range of bet sizes from the maximum of £/$/€1,000 down to a minimum of £/$/€0.40 per spin.
Zeus II is a pretty good slot. It is certainly rather basic, but if that is your sort of bag then you might well enjoy this one.
The main issue for us is that its volatility makes it a poor match for our recommended strategies.
If you are not bothered by this, there are probably still better RTPs you could drum up so we are not able to give this a recommendation.
