Theme and Storyline

Ocean Magic takes the player on a deep sea diving trip, plunging down to a world where whale sharks swim with seahorses and the ocean floor is crawling with luminescent starfish.

There is little else to mark Ocean Magic out as unique among the many ocean fish based slots that are out there, but even in this gloomy submarine world there are plenty of wonders to delight the player.

Graphics, Sounds and Animations

The visuals are rather plain with an art style that does little to create atmosphere or to give the slot any character.

The animations and sound effects are similarly workaday, without any effort being made to stand out.

The result is a slot that is perfectly fine, but entirely fails to lure the player in or to create much of an experience.

Ocean Magic Gameplay

The gameplay is much stronger, with the action well paced by the inclusion of Bubbles (see below) and a nice selection of bonus and gamble features.

The base game is a five reel slot with four rows and fifty win lines, which, while not especially fancy, is elevated by its features into something that feels much fresher and enjoyable than the visuals might suggest.

Wilds, Bonuses and Free Spins in Ocean Magic

The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus symbol.

Wilds are produced at random by the golden horn at the bottom of the reels. They attach to a random symbol and turn it Wild. In each subsequent spin, the bubble moves up one position and vanishes when it passes out of the top row.

Bubbles that land on the Ocean Magic symbol expand one space in every direction for one spin. Only the original bubble will then remain and move up for the next spin.

The player can increase the number and likelihood of Bubbles by paying extra each spin for the Bubble Boost feature. This can add up to seven bubbles to every spin.

If three or more Bonus symbols land on the reel, the Bonus game is triggered. This comes in two parts, a picking game and a free spin round.

The picking game determines how many spins you get in the free spin round. The Bonus game can be retriggered.

Ocean Magic Bet Sizes, RTP and Variance

The return to player of this game is 96.07%, pretty much spot on our yardstick for average of roughly 96%.

The range of bets on the site we tested ran from a minimum bet per spin of $/£/€0.10 up to a maximum of $/£/€300.00 per spin.

The volatility of this game is medium, which makes it a weak match for our preferred slot machine strategies. If the RTP was higher, this might be mitigated somewhat, but in this case we’d suggest giving this slot a skip if you are following our slot strategies, which target the highest possible volatility.

Conclusion

In light of the slot's high popularity, it is hard to work out what it is that lures people in about this game. While the gameplay stands up well, the visuals and atmosphere drag.

The RTP is average, but certainly far from generous, and players using our strategies might want to fish around for something with a little more variance.

Overall though, the game is enjoyable enough for us to give it a recommendation.
