A Lucky Day Lotto ticket winner has come forward to claim their prize, winning $1.45m in the process. The person, who won earlier in September, and had purchased the ticket from a gas station in Des Plaines, finally showed up last week to claim their reward.
Although they preferred to remain anonymous and won using 6-16-32-33-40 as their winning numbers, the lucky soul did offer a short quote that was cited and shared by the lottery itself. The winner is also the77th person to have become a millionaire playing the Illinois Lottery, marking a significant milestone for the lottery as well.
"When I realized how big my prize was, I almost passed out! I thought ‘no way, this can’t be real," the person said in an effusive statement.
"I checked the winning numbers online multiple times the morning after the drawing. It wasn’t until I clicked on ‘check your numbers – oh my gosh, I really won," they continued describing the rollercoaster of emotions that accompanied their seven-figure win.
The person, whose age and sex were not disclosed in the statement, offered still more clues as to what their personal life would look like after the win.
They said that their friends had congratulated them on their good fortune and added that while the winner had to worry about not having enough money to retire just a few weeks ago, the lottery win is now completely going to change that.
"They’re right - I am so happy that I can’t stop smiling and crying at the same time," thewinner said, cherishing their good fortune.
This is hardly the first millionaire in September, too! Another lottery winner bought a scratch-off ticket for the $10 Gold Multiplier Instant Ticket game and won this month, crossing the seven-figure threshold, and bagging a $1m reward.
The winning ticket had been sold at the Marathon gas station at 3801 South 6th Street in Springfield. More people are getting lucky from the lottery in Illinois, with the state enjoying increased sales of lottery tickets and participation in lottery games.
