Theme and Storyline

Following in the footsteps of many a fruit machine slot, Extra Stars sports melons and cherries and sevens. But it does so in a format that is poised between the minimalism of most fruit machines and the ordinary slot.

This falling between camps makes the theme feel a little off in some way.

Graphics, Sounds and Animations

The graphics are solid, but uninteresting.

The patterned background and the simple symbols look nice enough. But they are indistinguishable from a million other slots just like it.

Similarly, its animations and music are more or less the same as many other slots, especially those coming from EGT. On the whole, the front end design does little to distinguish it from its competition.

Gameplay

Extra Stars has five reels and three rows. The ten win lines count in both directions and player can change between one, three, five, seven and ten win lines.

There is a gamble feature for anyone who fancies upping the rather paltry volatility of the game.

And for fans of bonus features, there is both a randomly triggered jackpot system and Wild respins, but no bonus features.

Wilds, Bonuses and Free Spins

The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols. When a Wild lands, it expands to fill its reel and triggers a free respin with the Wilds locked in place.

Wilds only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4.

The jackpots can be triggered at the end of any regular spin. There are four of them, all progressive. Each is assigned the suit of a card.

When the jackpot is triggered, the player is dealt twelve cards. They turn the cards one by one until they have three matching suits. The jackpot which matches that suit is then awarded to the player.

The return to player of this game is 95.78%, a little under our yardstick for average of roughly 96%.

Conclusion

Not simple enough to be a minimalist slot, not complex enough to feel like a full blown slot, Extra Stars is off to a rough start.

The low RTP and medium volatility make it terrible for using our slot strategies. That the slot offers very little to make up for it, is the reason we can dismiss this one so easily.
