Global sports technology leader Sportradar, announced a new appointment, strengthening its senior-level management team. The company confirmed it selected Gerard Griffin for the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Although the appointment was announced last week, Sportradar explained that it is effective as of May 9, 2023. Griffin brings extensive experience of more than 25 years within the financial vertical. As a senior-level executive, he was a part of global gaming, technology and media companies.
Joining Sportradar as CFO, he will be in charge of the company's investor relations. Additionally, Griffin will be tasked with Sportradar's accounting and financial operations. As CFO, he will succeed Uli Harmuth and will report directly to the company's CEO and founder, Carsten Koerl. The new CFO of Sportradar will be based in St. Gallen, a statement released by the company reveals.
Griffin shared his excitement in a statement saying: "I am very happy to be joining Sportradar which has established itself as the leader in the sports technology industry." He acknowledged that the company's team leverages innovation and experience, which allows it to capture emerging opportunities. Finally, Griffin noted: "I look forward to working closely with Carsten and the rest of the Sportradar team to deliver exceptional value for clients, partners, and shareholders."
Overall, Sportradar's new CFO brings more than 25 years of experience. Before joining the company, Griffin was a part of the leading interactive entertainment company, Zynga Inc., where he served as CFO. During his tenure with the company, he was in charge of investor relations, accounting as well as finance. Thanks to Griffin's leadership skills, Zynga was able to grow and improve its market position, profitability and revenue.
Besides Zynga, the seasoned financial executive was a part of Electronic Arts Inc. for more than a decade. At the time, Griffin held different roles such as Senior Vice President of Finance for EA's Studios. Additionally, he held the role of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at EA International.
Carsten Koerl, Sportradar's CEO and Founder, welcomed Griffin to the company's team of experts. "I am pleased to welcome Gerard to the Sportradar executive management team," he said. Moreover, Koerl predicted that Griffin's experience and knowledge will help him in the role which will ultimately result in a boost in terms of profitability and growth.
The CEO and Founder thanked Harmuth for his services as interim CFO. "His partnership and dedication in this role have been tremendously appreciated," added Koerl. Finally, Sportradar's boss said that he is excited to see Harmuth remain a part of the executive management team in the role of Chief Strategy Officer.
