  • Catena Media has enacted further reductions to its workforce
  • The latest cost-cutting drive has affected tech and marketing teams
  • The layoffs have so far been paying off as the company finds itself on a stronger financial footing

Catena Media is continuing to reduce its workforce as the company taps into AI synergies and tech while trying to lower the costs of operations at a challenging time in the iGaming industry.

Catena Media slashes more jobs, teams, as it consolidates and reduces costs

As AI search is recalibrating how users on the Internet discover information, companies have been increasingly relying on the technology to take over specific parts of their own operations, with Flutter Entertainment, evoke, and others among the firms to reduce their workforce recently, albeit not necessarily for the same reasons.

The company has consolidated its tech and marketing teams, with the regional sites team among the impacted, and stewardship of these assets distributed evenly between the company’s remaining staff.

Catena Media has noted an impact from recent Google updates, which have proven a continuous challenge, although the layoffs have, for the time being, transitioned into stronger overall financial performance.

This is not the first time Catena Media has released people, with the business slashing 50 people in the second quarter of last year. The business also chose to sell its esports brands amid the cost-cutting drive in 2025, but returned to a stronger financial footing during the second half of the year.

The latest layoffs are indicative of the company’s ongoing push to streamline its operations, reduce costs, and ensure operational capacity in a challenging market, but one in which Catena Media believes it can still thrive.
