Flutter Entertainment, one of the world’s largest gambling companies, has announced a major shake-up of its top executive position, with the incumbent, Peter Jackson, set to leave the post as CEO on September 30, 2026.
Jackson has spearheaded the company’s growth and operations since January 2018, when he originally stepped into the position, and played a key role in the firm’s North American expansion, the explosion into the sports betting space, and the streamlining of its iGaming business.
Under his stewardship, the company also pivoted into prediction markets, a new vertical that has created plenty of traction for traditional sports betting businesses but has not stopped companies such as FanDuel from exploring them. At the end of 2025, Steve Birch surrendered his role as Chief Commercial Officer at Flutter Entertainment, another high-profile change.
Jackson is succeeded by Dan Taylor, who is stepping in as Group CEO as the company navigates an increasingly challenging sports betting and iGaming landscape, as well as looks into further consolidating its presence in prediction markets.
Taylor is a seasoned Flutter Entertainment insider, who has served as CEO of the company’s international division and has been promoted to the role of Group President recently.
"Dan has an outstanding track record of delivering results, building high-performing teams and leading complex international businesses. Dan’s breadth of experience and responsibilities across the group, combined with his deep understanding of the industry, give us every confidence that he is the right person to lead Flutter into its next phase of growth," said Flutter Chair John Bryant, on the appointment of Taylor and Jackson’s leave.
Bryant similarly thanked Jackson for his service and significant contribution to the company’s growth. Jackson was credited with the transformation of the Paddy Power Betfair business into the Flutter Entertainment juggernaut that it is today.
As to why Jackson is exiting is not immediately clear, although it may be part of a planned succession with the man on the job for more than eight years now. The company has stated the departure was not the result of any disagreement with management or the Board.
Over his tenure, Jackson had presided over the company’s continuous and sustained growth and improving financial revenue. Of late, Flutter Entertainment has experienced a certain slowdown, with the group posting a net loss of $296m in the second quarter of the year.
FanDuel, Flutter Entertainment’s sports betting brand in the United States, has been consistently consolidating its position as one of the leaders in the market, a position it is often seen sharing with DraftKings.
Flutter Entertainment has also recently, and officially, completed its delisting from the London Stock Exchange, moving onto the New York Stock Exchange exclusively, citing low trading volume as the reason why.
