Brightstar Lottery, the leading provider of digital and retail lottery games, solutions and technology, signed a new alliance, strengthening its presence in Australia.
On Thursday, the company confirmed that through its subsidiaries in Australia, Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation and Brightstar Lottery Australia Corporation, it inked a new long-term contract with the Lotteries Commission, trading as Lotterywest.
The new long-term agreement, spanning nearly two decades, follows a competitive procurement process.
Ultimately, Brightstar emerged as the winner of the new 19-year contract, which breaks down to a nine-year base term along with one four-year and two three-year extension options.
Notably, under the alliance, the company will provide Lotterywest with its industry-leading lottery and digital products.
The latter will also benefit from a new central gaming system, significantly strengthening its operations in Western Australia.
Per the agreement, Brightstar Lottery will convert a competitor technology used by Lotterywest to deliver its high-performing central lottery system, powering the Lottery's draw-based and instant ticket games.
What's more, the former agreed to deliver 775 new retailer terminals, including its industry-leading Retailer Pro S2 terminals, as well as other software solutions that will improve the lottery's offering.
Not unexpectedly, Brightstar will also bring mobile applications, as well as a website for Lotterywest, strengthening its digital offering.
Marco Tasso, Brightstar Lottery's Chief Operating Officer International and Italy Operations, commented in a press release.
"Throughout its 90-plus years, Lotterywest has established itself as forward-thinking lottery, committed to responsibly growing sales and making a positive impact on its communities," he said.
Moreover, Tasso pointed out: "Brightstar is excited to support Lotterywest in its next chapter by introducing our premier technology and comprehensive product solutions, to help shape the future of lottery in Western Australia and support responsible growth."
Colin Smith, Lotterywest's CEO, added: "The replacement of Lotterywest's gaming system is part of our ongoing commitment to modernizing our operations to support players and retailers, ensuring ongoing returns to the Western Australia community."
Smith spoke about the importance of the new gaming system that will help preserve the lottery's rich heritage.
Last but not least, the executive predicted that the alliance with Brightstar Lottery will enable Lotterywest to continue to evolve and grow.
