Brightstar Lottery extends licensing deal with Sony Pictures for Ghostbusters

The global leader in lottery solutions, technology, games and content, Brightstar Lottery, continues its successful collaboration with Sony Pictures under the terms of a new partnership extension.

The duo extend their agreement for five more years

The company first joined forces with Sony Pictures becoming a licensee of the latter’s Ghostbusters franchise in 2015.

On Wednesday, Brightstar Lottery said it inked a new five-year partnership extension with Sony Pictures, enabling it to continue to offer games based on the globally-recognizable franchise.

As a result, Brightstar will continue to develop and distribute Ghostbusters-themed omnichannel lottery games, powering the offering of its partners across the glove.

Matthew Whalen, Brightstar Lottery’s Senior Vice President, Global Instant Ticket Services, spoke about the importance of the partnership with Sony Pictures, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

"Brightstar has been a proud licensee of Sony Pictures' Ghostbusters since 2015, and we're excited to continue bringing this fan-favorite franchise to life for players in new and engaging ways," he explained.

Whalen acknowledged that the partnership with Sony Pictures has resulted in the launch of more than 25 Ghostbusters-themed games with nearly two dozen operators across the globe.

"The variety of games includes traditional instant tickets with high-definition symbols, Brightstar's patented Infinity Instants lottery tickets, Fast Play games, and an exclusive eInstant game," he added.

Finally, Whalen explained that the partnership extension seeks to further expand the Ghostbusters-themed games developed by Brightstar Lottery and deliver new, engaging and immersive experiences to fans of the franchise and gamblers alike.

Stacey Kerr, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Senior Vice President, Global Licensing, was similarly thrilled.

"Ghostbusters is an iconic global franchise with lasting popularity, and Brightstar has been instrumental in helping us connect with both lifelong fans and new audiences," the executive said.

Moreover, Kerr explained that Sony is looking forward to continuing its successful alliance with Brightstar Lottery that is going to bring exciting lottery experiences to players worldwide.
