Brightstar Lottery confirms planned changes to C-suite

• Renato Ascoli, one of the long-term executives at Brightstar Lottery, who currently serves as CEO, Global Lottery, will be stepping down from his role
• The company promotes Marco Tasso to the role of Executive Vice President and CEO, Global Lottery
• Vince Sadusky, Brightstar Lottery’s CEO, speaks about the importance of the senior-level change

At a time when Brightstar Lottery PLC is transitioning to a standalone pure play lottery business, it confirmed changes to its senior-level team.

On Thursday, the company revealed that Renato Ascoli, its CEO, Global Lottery, will be stepping down from his role, while Marco Tasso, another executive with significant experience, will be promoted to a new position.

Ascoli steps down, Tasso takes over

Throughout his career, spanning more than 20 years at Brightstar Lottery, Ascoli held many C-suite roles.

He navigated the company through a range of challenges while overseeing and leading teams in markets across the globe.

Per Brightstar Lottery’s announcement, Ascoli will be stepping down from his position, effective June 30, 2026.

On the other hand, Tasso, who is also a seasoned gaming and lottery industry veteran with decades of experience, will assume a new role.

Effective July 1, 2026, Tasso will hold the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Global Lottery.

This transition represents a promotion for the executive who currently serves as COO, International and Italy Operations.

Tasso graduated Cum Laude with a degree in mathematics from Università degli Studi in Messina, Italy.

Additionally, he holds an MBA with Distinction from CUOA in Vicenza, Italy.

His career started with consulting roles at Bain and Company as well as Ernst & Young Consultants.

Entering the gambling vertical, he was employed by Lottomatica where he was tasked with overseeing different operations, including instant lotteries, among others.

Later, Tasso served as CEO of Northstar Lottery Group where he played a key role in signing the first-ever private lottery management contract for the Illinois Lottery.

More recently, he held various C-suite roles at Brightstar, as well as its predecessor, IGT, including positions such as COO, International and Italy Operations, SVP of Global Lottery Marketing and SVP of Global Supply Chain and Services, among others.

The new EVP and COO, Global Lottery, has a long list of responsibilities

Assuming the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Global Lottery, Tasso will be in charge of Brightstar Lottery’s global lottery operations.

His responsibilities will cover product development, technology, sales, marketing and product management.

Tasso will be tasked with overseeing customer support and field services, as well as supply chains and other vital aspects of the business.

Vince Sadusky, Brightstar Lottery’s CEO, spoke about the latest senior-level change, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

"As Renato prepares to step down, I want to thank him for his many years of service and steadfast commitment to our business and people," he said.

Moreover, Sadusky pointed out: "Having Marco as a part of our senior leadership team supports the company's vision and strategic goals. As we strengthen our focus on growth, transformation and operational execution, Marco's insights and experience will help shape the lottery operating organization and optimize it to deliver results."

In his new role, Tasso will report directly to Sadusky.
