The global leader in retail and digital games, technology analytics and services, Scientific Games, strengthened its senior-level team with the appointment of Dan Flynn to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Assuming the position, effective November 2, 2026, Flynn succeeds Kevin Schneider, who held the role of Interim CEO since September this year.
Considering that a new permanent CEO is appointed, Scientific Games confirmed that Schneider has transitioned to the role of Chairman of the company's Board of Directors.
Overall, Flynn brings more than 30 years of leadership experience after holding numerous senior-level roles, navigating different businesses, and helping companies accomplish strategic transformations.
Before he was appointed Interim CEO, Schneider held the role of Vice Chairman since March 2026. Prior to that position, he held the role of independent director since 2022.
Schneider was appointed as Interim CEO after Scientific Games confirmed the retirement of Pat McHugh in September.
In the role of Chairman, Schneider will continue to collaborate with the company’s C-suite and play a major role in the future development of the business and its strategic and commercial priorities.
At the same time, Flynn will leverage his extensive leadership experience to navigate Scientific Games.
As CEO, he will oversee vital growth processes, objectives and strategies that seek to ensure the business remains competitive and continues to expand.
Throughout his career, Flynn has held various C-suite roles, including a number of leadership positions at Hertz for more than 20 years.
Between 2019 and 2022, he was in charge of Caterpillar’s global rental and used equipment business, assuming responsibility for a multi-billion-dollar annual sales network.
Earlier in his career, Flynn held the role of Executive Vice President of Business Transformation and President of North America at CDK Global, a company providing integrated technology solutions for automotive retailers.
Before joining Scientific Games, he held the role of Chief Transformation Officer at CDK Global.
Flynn spoke with excitement about the opportunity to join the senior-level team at Scientific Games.
"Scientific Games combines global operations, technology and customer delivery in ways that align closely with my experience," he revealed in a press release.
"I look forward to bringing that experience to a talented team with deep lottery expertise and a strong commitment to customer success. Together, we will build on the company's achievements, support our employees' development and strengthen the capabilities needed for future growth," Scientific Games’ new CEO added.
Finally, the executive explained that the company will focus on delivering innovative technology, services and games that meet and exceed the expectations of lottery businesses across the globe while enabling them to increase funding to good causes.
"Dan brings the operational and technology leadership experience to build on that momentum, support our talented teams and advance our global capabilities to support continued growth and the opportunities ahead," Schneider added.
"Together, we will help our customers meet evolving player expectations and succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace," the new Chairman of the Board of Directors at Scientific Games said in conclusion.
