The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) and Scientific Games, the global leader in retail and digital games, technology and analytics, continue their successful partnership.

SCiQ improves retail sales, expands reach

A recent deployment of the latter’s leading SCiQ technology ecosystems recorded significant growth for the lottery operator.

In a press release, Scientific Games confirmed that as of early August, NCEL scratch-off sales at Harris Teeter stores with the company’s SCiQ technologyrecorded an increase of 23.5%.

As a result, the company confirmed it will expand the rollout of its leading SCiQ technology, powering a total of 2,000 NCEL retail outlets across the state.

The state-of-the-art SCiQ technology enables retailers to better manage their products offering thanks to a comprehensive suite of features.

These include fully integrated menu boards for product placement and promotion, real-time, store-specific sales as well as product performance reports.

At the same time, Scientific Games’ SCiQ bolsters security with the use of secure bins that automatically dispense tickets and, at the same time, track ticket status on an individual ticket level, thus helping combat theft.

Scientific Games offers end-to-end implementation for SCiQ. This significantly propels the offering for lottery operators that access an all-encompassing solution that offers various features.

For the implementation, planning and retailer training, Scientific Games collaborated closely with the NCEL.

Currently, SCiQ powers retail outlets in nearly two dozen U.S. jurisdictions, as well as European markets.

The innovative technology optimizes the management of scratch-off games

Michael Martin, Scientific Games’ VP Retail Solutions, spoke about the importance of the expanded collaboration.

"SCiQ optimizes how scratch-off games are managed and sold in retail stores by connecting lotteries, retailers and players via real-time data and updates," he explained.

Finally, Martin pointed out: "The system improves operational management for retailers with store-level data and strategic analytics insights for lotteries—driving higher sales and, ultimately, increased funding for lottery good cause programs."

Mark Michalko, NCEL’s CEO and Executive Director, was similarly excited.

He explained that the Lottery has a goal to increase contributions to education across North Carolina responsibly, and enhancing scratch-off games marks a part of that plan.

"Installing SCiQ at key retailers delivered meaningful sales increases at participating retailers, with some stores seeing significant jumps," Michalko said in conclusion.
