Poker players are known to be more considerate when it comes to their gambling habits. They know for a fact that a slot machine is not designed to "win" the way poker is. This is why slot machines are "games of chance" and poker is largely recognized as a "game of skill."
Yet, this distinction has not stopped Allen "The Chainsaw" Kessler, a well-established poker pro with $3,870,000 in career winnings under his belt, from spending nearly 12 hours at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in California, playing a slot game.

He tweeted earlier this week celebrating what he described as a success, with the player fetching a $1,210,108 payday on the Buffalo Power Play slot machine by Aristocrat. The Chainsaw was happy to pose for a photo op holding his eye-watering seven-figure check. In other words, the jackpot he won off the slot is basically one-third of his career winnings as a poker pro.
He did not go into the details of how much he had lost in the 12 hours of play, but he was placing a $25 bet when the win occurred. Although he is a Las Vegas resident, The Chainsaw has been a frequent visitor to the Thunder Valley Casino for the past decade, not least because he has found himself lucky on more than one occasion.
He is hardly the only success story over the past several days. As Casino Guru News reported earlier this week, one player at the Palms Casino Resort had been able to win $2,100,000 on a $3 bet at the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.
Reportedly, "the player" was a couple – a bartender and her boyfriend out of Texas who was on a trip to the Las Vegas Strip, surrounded by a bunch of people. The couple posed for the photo op but was never actually identified.
Prior to that, a player at The Venetian Las Vegas won $2,211,469 on Pai Gow Poker, making it one of the largest jackpots to have been won from the game on The Strip. The player placed a $5 on a side bet to trigger the jackpot.
