$5 ticket brings life-changing $500,000 prize

The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased his ticket from the CVS at 22421 Pontiac Trail in South Lyon.

Interestingly, the man admitted that he followed a Sunday ritual that led him to his newfound fortune.

In an interview for an official from the Michigan Lottery, the fortunate player said: "I have a ritual of returning cans every Sunday morning and then using the money to buy lottery tickets."

Doing exactly this, the Livingston County man bought his tickets for the weekend and put them in his car’s glove box, while running errands for the rest of the day.

Then, after dinner, the lottery player discovered how lucky he was as he sat down to scratch off the tickets.

This is when the fortunate man saw uncovered the $500,000 top prize from the Stampede Payout ticket.

"When I saw I’d won $500,000, I started yelling and jumping up and down," the winner said, recalling the moment of the win.

He added: "I tried to scan the ticket on the app after, but my hands were shaking so bad I couldn’t get it to scan until later."

The Livingston County man admitted that winning $500,000 feels amazing and he can finally have financial freedom.

Claiming his newfound fortune at the Lottery headquarters, the fortunate player admitted that he plans to pay off his house, go on vacation and go out to dinner with friends.

Michigan lottery players can win a range of prizes from Stampede Payout

The Michigan Lottery rolled out the Stampede Payout ticket in August.

The $500,000 won by the Livingston County man marked the first top prize from the $5 game.

There are two top prizes remaining in play from the ticket.

On the other hand, the Stampede Payout ticket also awards a $2,000 tier two prize and there are seven out of 10 such prizes in play.

Within the lower prize tiers, the $5 ticket offers a range of prizes varying from $500 to $5.

The overall odds of winning any prize from the game are 1 in 4.04.
