A fortunate couple will be looking forward to traveling the world and helping charities after winning a once-in-a-lifetime jackpot.

That’s the story of a Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, couple who won the top prize from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s Lotto Max game.

Lotto Max ticket makes Penticton couple rich

The incredibly fortunate players purchased their winning ticket at Smart Shopper on Main Street and Westminster Avenue West in Penticton.

Interestingly, the couple had won the jackpot from Lotto Max’s drawing on April 7, 2026, but only recently realized they came across such a huge fortune.

Matching all winning numbers on the draw, the couple won a life-changing CA$75m ($52.8m) prize.

Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game that holds drawings on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 PM.

Players across Canada can purchase Lotto Max tickets via retailers or online.

Since the start of the year, B.C. lottery players have collected more than CA$116m ($81.5m) in prizes from Lotto Max.

The winners plan world travel, celebrations

The fortunate couple was asked by a BCLC official how it felt to win such a life-changing prize.

"We’re excited but experiencing every emotion imaginable," the husband admitted.

Recalling the moment they realized they won big, the pair said that they heard someone in Penticton won CA$75m ($52.8m) from Lotto Max.

The husband then checked the ticket and saw their numbers match the winning numbers.

"We manually referenced the winning tickets online but we needed to check at a terminal," he explained.

The couple described themselves as "outdoorsy people," and thanks to the life-changing jackpot win, they already have big plans about traveling.

The pair said they are considering a cruise around the world or renting a camper and traveling to interesting locations.

However, the couple won’t be the only people benefiting from the unexpected windfall.

The Penticton couple said: "We will be setting a small amount aside for ourselves, and the remaining is allocated to specific charity organizations that are important to us."

Before anything else, the pair said they plan to hold a gathering with friends and family and celebrate their life-changing win.
