Maryland man disappointed by small pizza wins $1m from scratch-off ticket

One lottery player recently visited a new pizza place and was disappointed by how small the pizza was.

On the way back home, the fortunate man stopped at a store and decided to try his luck with a scratch-off ticket that ultimately brought him a life-changing prize.

The man was frustrated after he was given the wrong pizza size

That’s the story of one Baltimore County, Maryland man, who was recently asked by his wife to buy pizza for dinner.

The Gwynn Oak man headed to the pizza place his wife asked him to go to, but once he was there, he realized that the pizza was too small for his family.

"How am I going to feed everyone with this tiny pizza. It was supposed to be a large," the man said in an interview for the Maryland Lottery.

Disappointed and visibly frustrated, the man left the pizza place and, on the way home, decided to stop at a 7-Eleven store.

There, the Baltimore County man decided to purchase lottery tickets.

Ironically, the lottery tickets display at the store was small, once again causing the man frustration as he remembered the small pizza he was given for dinner.

Nevertheless, the Gwynn Oak man purchased three tickets for the Maryland Lottery’s Extreme Green scratch-off game.

The next day, the lucky man decided to scratch off the ticket and saw one of the game’s top prizes for a sweet $1m payday.

Standing in disbelief, the lottery player then scanned the ticket and saw a message confirming the win.

"I thought something was wrong and scanned it several more times before it sunk in," the fortunate player added.

After that, the Gwynn Oak man took a picture of the ticket and sent it to his wife.

Earlier this week, the couple claimed their newfound fortune.

Asked about his plans for the lottery prize, the husband said that it would be great to be debt-free.

The couple added that they also plan to start their own business.

The $1m win marked the first top prize to go down from Extreme Green

Each Extreme Green ticket costs $20 and offers players 34 chances to win a prize between $20 and $1m.

The $1m top prize won by the Baltimore County man marked the first such win and four more such prizes remain in play from the $20 scratch-off game.

A tier-two prize from Extreme Green awards $50,000 and there are three out of three such prizes up for grabs.

On the other hand, the game’s tier-three prize awards $10,000 and out of eight such prizes, six remain in play.

Within the lower prize tiers, between $5,000 and $20, many more prizes are up for grabs from the popular game.

The overall odds of winning any prize from the $20 Extreme Green ticket are 1 in 3.14.
