One lottery player, who has been using the same numbers for decades and thought that they would never come out, was surprised by a life-changing million-dollar lottery prize.
With the thought of his newfound fortune sinking in, the winner now plans to live by the sea and enjoy life to the fullest.
The recent Weekday Windfall drawing on Monday, September 7, 2026, produced a total of three division one winning entries across Australia.
Each of the division one winning entries from Weekday Windfall’s draw 4752 is entitled to a life-changing AU$1m ($722,000) prize.
One of the winners, a Canowindra, Cabonne Shire, New South Wales man, purchased his System 7 entry from Canowindra Post Shop at 54 Gaskill Street in Canowindra.
Karen Cummings, the owner of the shop where the winning ticket was sold, said in an interview for The Lott that it is incredibly exciting to sell a division one winning ticket.
"We’ve only had the newsagency here for about three years and this is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold," Cummings said.
Moreover, the shop owner congratulated the winner and wished them all the best.
Once The Lott contacted the big winner, the man admitted that he is still in shock.
The player said that he has been playing for decades, using the same seven numbers.
Acknowledging that winning felt "very surreal," the fortunate man said: "I saw it last night and it didn’t even register. I went ‘oh yeah, those are my numbers’. It took me a minute before I realised what that actually meant."
Despite playing for decades with the same numbers, the big winner said that he often doubted that they would be drawn, saying: "It’s funny because there’s plenty of times I’ve thought, ‘These numbers will never come out’."
The newly minted millionaire was asked about his plans for his newfound fortune.
He explained that the windfall came at the perfect time, considering that he was thinking about moving.
Thanks to his newfound fortune, the man said that living near the beach will be a "real treat."
