Players in Illinois may want to be on the lookout, as a Lucky Day Lotto ticket bought on Monday, July 27, has secured the game’s top prize.

Player has a year from Monday, July 27 to claim their reward

The Illinois Lottery confirmed that a person has scored $500,000 - the game’s top prize and an extra $1 because they matched 2 out of 5 numbers on another line, bringing the total amount of the prize to $500,001.

The ticket won by matching 18, 22, 28, 29 and 32 as the winning numbers, and players in Illinois claimed more than $40m worth of various prizes during the draw.

However, as of the time of writing, no player has stepped forward to claim the prize. They have exactly one year from the date of the draw to furnish the winning ticket and secure the prize.

Lucky Day Lotto has been one of the most popular lottery games in the Prairie State and often a source of six-figure prizes.

At the beginning of the year, another Lucky Day Lotto ticket fetched a $550,000 prize by matching the winning numbers - 2, 10, 17, 29, and 38. The shop that sold the ticket also received a $5,500 payment.

More winners in the Prairie State

Yet, the state has seen even grander prizes drop from the popular game. Last September, for example, a person scooped $750,000 from the same title. Besides these wins, the Illinois Lottery has frequently produced seven-figure winners.

Someone scooped a $1.3m prize in June, and another $10 scratch-off ticket brought a lucky woman, Cynthia, a $1m payout.
