The Monday Lucky Day Lotto drawing has produced a new winner, with one lucky soul set to claim the big prize - $750,000.
Winning off 8, 16, 26, 29, and 34 as their winning numbers, the lottery has released details about where the victory occurred – at Oak Park North Gas Mart at 6119 W. North Ave. in Oak Park, Illinois.
The store is now going to claim $7,500 premium for selling the winning ticket. As to the winner themselves, there are no further details about who they may be, nor whether they have already claimed the reward.
However, the lottery did encourage players to check their tickets, suggesting that it was still on the lookout for the lucky soul. Yet, this is not the only jackpot story to report locally, with another Illinois player claiming $1,000,000 from the Powerball.
The winner was identified as REX, and they took the customary photo-op with the outsized check.
"I usually play Lotto, but this time I found an old Powerball ticket in the drawer and figured I’d give those numbers another try. The jackpot was so high — over a billion dollars! I figured I wouldn’t get too many chances at that kind of money," the winner told the lottery.
The ticket was purchased at Joe’s Tobacco and Vape & Phone Repair Shop, located at 1945 W. Galena Blvd. in Aurora, and the numbers that fetched the win were 3, 16, 29, 61, and 69 on the September 3 Powerball drawing.
The venue will now get $10,000 for selling the winning ticket. The best part about the $1,000,000 win, the winner said, was sharing the news with their spouse, who was as surprised as the actual winner at finding out the news.
REX is planning to spend the money on getting a new car and also offering gifts to loved ones.
