LG Display introduces innovative panel designed specifically for esports

The world’s innovator of display technology, LG Display, is leading the esports monitor race with the launch of a brand-new gaming OLED panel.

The company’s new 24.5-inch 720Hz Gaming OLED panel is the first-ever OLED panel that is specifically tailored for esports.

The display is first used in the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace

The launch of the new 24.5-inch 720Hz Gaming OLED panel complements LG Display’s goal to accelerate its expansion and target the esports market.

The innovative panel has been applied for the first time to ASUS’s new gaming monitor, the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace.

The monitor in question has been selected as the official esports monitor for one of the biggest Counter-Strike 2 tournaments this year, the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026.

With the launch of the new display, LG Displays plans to continue capitalizing on esports markets and take the lead with its full lineup of displays from the 20-inch up to the 40-inch class.

Some of the company’s products feature its proprietary Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology.

Focusing on further growth in esports, LG Displays is accelerating AI transformation (AX) within all areas of gaming display development, positioning the company well for rapid expansion.

Hyeon-woo Lee, LG Display’s Head of the Large Display Business Unit, spoke about the newly launched Gaming OLED panel.

"As a technology-driven company, we will lead the transition to OLED in the gaming monitor market and lead the mainstreaming of OLED in the global market," the executive explained in a press release.

The display stands out with extremely high refresh rate and the world’s fastest response time

LG Display’s newest Gaming OLED panel realizes the world’s highest refresh rate at 720Hz, meaning that the screen refreshes 720 times per second.

To ensure a stable 720Hz refresh rate at FHD resolution, LG Display developed a proprietary algorithm.

At the same time, the 24.5-inch 720Hz Gaming OLED panel features the fastest response time at 0.02ms.

The lightning-fast response time and ultra-high refresh rate play a major role in reducing ghosting and motion blur.

As a result, the esports teams and fan players alike can enjoy an engaging experience, especially in high-paced game genres such as first-person shooters and racing titles.

Unlike LCD displays that require a backlight, LG Display’s new panel uses OLED technology that achieves highly vivid image quality that bolsters player immersion.
