An incredibly fortunate lottery player from Vancouver, Canada, thought that a ticket self-checker malfunctioned after a million-dollar win appeared.
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the corporation in charge of managing legal gambling products across British Columbia, uncovered details regarding the lucky player, whose name is Bin Wei.
The Vancouver resident purchased a ticket for the Lottery's popular game, Lotto Max.
Wei bought the ticket from Real Canadian Superstore at Grandview Highway and Rupert Street in Vancouver.
Undoubtedly, the fortunate woman did not expect to hit a CA$1m ($738,000) prize from Lotto Max's draw on August 13, 2024.
Asked by Lottery officials about the recent win, Wei explained in a statement that she checked her tickets at a self-check machine.
The fortunate Vancouver player explained: "I thought something was wrong with the machine!"
Lucky for Wei, nothing was wrong with the machine but on the contrary, she scored a CA$1m ($738,000) lottery win.
When she was asked how she felt after the win, the woman exclaimed: "It's very good!"
After winning a million dollars, the woman said that she would finally have some time to rest from work.
Wei said she plans to sleep more and also use her newfound wealth to pay off her mortgage.
Currently, Lotto Max draws nationwide take place every Tuesday and Friday after 7:30 PM PST.
The odds of winning any prize from the popular lottery game are approximately 1 in 7.
On the other hand, the odds of winning a top prize from Lotto Max are 1 in 33,294,800.
A second-tier prize carries the odds of 1 in 4,756,400, while the odds of winning a third-tier prize are 1 in 113,248.
As a popular nationwide lottery game, Lotto Max offers jackpots that start at CA$10m and can grow up to CA$70m.
