The Powerball’s jackpot did not drop on Saturday, April 18, but to one New Yorker, this is not something to be too worried about. Rather, the person can focus on their newly-won $1m jackpot, as confirmed by the lottery.
With the top prize soaring to $87m for tonight’s drawing, the Saturday winner will still take the seven-figure payout home.
In the meantime, the odds for winning the top prize remain rather slim - at one in 292,201,338, which is why the Powerball has produced the largest winner in the history of lotteries ever - a whopping $2.04bn.
The Powerball is set to only get bigger, however, with the traditionally US game expanding outside the country for the very first time, and moving overseas to the United Kingdom, with players from both sides of the Atlantic competing for the same prize, and fueling the total jackpot.
With drawings due on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, this allows for plenty of lottery action.
The lottery released more details about the most recent $1m winner in New York as well. The person was able to match all five white balls - 24, 25, 39, 46, and 61, but missed the Powerball number, taking the second-place prize.
The ticket itself was bought at Unique News and Smoke at 2218 Broadway in New York. The Powerball jackpot was reset recently after a single ticket in Delaware took home a $230.8m jackpot on Monday, April 6.
