A Harnett County, North Carolina man is planning to secure a new home for his family after winning $1,000,000 in the lottery. The prize could not have come at a better time, as the man’s family had been looking for a new home when the fortunate event transpired.

Player had a feeling about the $10 ticket

The winner is Raymond Johnson of Bunnlevel, who won playing a scratch-off game.

The man was sitting on his porch on Sunday when he realized that the ticket he had just scratched off had secured him the life-altering $1m top prize, which will now lead to a better life. The ticket was bought from Super Save on NC 27 West in Lillington, with Johnson playing the $10 Triple Red 777 Jackpot game.

Commenting on how he picked the game, he just said that he had a good feeling about the game and went with it alone. Johnson now secured the second out of three prizes for the game. The $10 Triple Red 777 Jackpot title was launched in July 2026 and is nearing the end of its run, with a single prize remaining to be scooped.

The prize could not have come at a better time as well, as the player said that his family and he had been looking for a new house, with the money coming as a great financial boost to secure a better home.

Lump sum option all the way

"Last Saturday we were looking at a house," he told the North Carolina Education Lottery on the occasion of receiving the prize at the lottery’s headquarters, and posing for the customary photo-op.

The man has naturally opted for the lump sum, which comesdown to $600,000, instead of the $50,000 payable over 20 years as an annuity. After taxes are applied, Johnson is collecting $432,063 from the lump sum payment.
