MGM Resorts named Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leader

The global gambling and hospitality company, MGM Resorts International, was recognized by the strategic professional services firm dedicated to helping diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) within the workplace, Seramount. The latest announcement came Monday and sees MGM Resorts named a Leading Inclusion Index Company as a part of the Seramount Inclusion Index.

The prestigious recognition reaffirms MGM Resorts' commitment and achievements in DEI. Overall, there were 175 organizations that applied for the 2022 Seramount Inclusion Index. With that in mind, MGM Resorts is among the 36 global organizations that were shortlisted as Leading Inclusion Index companies.

In a statement released on November 7, 2022, Seramount's Managing Director of Diversity Best Practices, Katie Oertli Mooney, said: "We are pleased to see corporations continue to focus on their DEI efforts effectiveness by evaluating their accountability measures through precise metrics that pinpoint any challenges and create opportunities for next steps." In conclusion, she pointed out that Seramount is glad to see the progress companies are making to develop inclusive workplaces while at the same time hiring talented people and helping them succeed.

To achieve the prestigious recognition, MGM Resorts went through measurements within different areas of expertise. Seramount explained that it considered data from different processes such as "best practices in the recruitment, retention, and advancement of people from underrepresented groups—women, racial/ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals; inclusive corporate culture, including leadership accountability; and demographic diversity for women and racial/ethnic minorities."

Addressing the latest achievement, Jyoti Chopra, MGM Resorts' Chief People, Inclusion and Sustainability Officer, said that the company is proud to be recognized for its ongoing commitment to DEI. She added: "Our continuous growth in this area furthers our determination to ensure the principles of diversity and inclusion remain a focus and integral part of our people strategy."

The latest recognition comes after only recently, MGM Resorts unveiled a senior-level appointment. Early last month, the company hired the services of Gary Fritz. Joining the company, Fritz was appointed as the new President of MGM Resorts Interactive.

Currently, MGM Resorts is a leading global entertainment company. The company's portfolio includes 33 luxury hotel and casino destinations in different locations around the globe. In addition to retail casino gambling, MGM Resorts offers sports betting and online gambling via its joint venture with Entain, BetMGM.

Amid the expanding sports betting industry in the US, BetMGM continues to enter new states. By now, BetMGM offers its services to key US markets such as Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and Washington among other states. Besides the US, BetMGM has a presence in Canada after launching its mobile app for the regulated gambling market in Ontario earlier this year.
