The fight for supremacy in the sports betting market in the United States has been ruthless, with DraftKings and FanDuel generally agreed upon by observers to hold a duopoly. Yet, BetMGM has pried away a major victory, having replaced FanDuel as the major official sports odds provider for The Associated Press, a global media outfit.
The AP and BetMGM confirmed the news on Thursday and said that FanDuel would no longer be providing its odd feeds for the media juggernaut. Commenting on this development, AP Director of Global Text and Commercial Products Barry Bedlan said that the media was very happy to be bringing in a partner of BetMGM’s stature on board.
"People want trustworthy sports betting information, and we are pleased to work with BetMGM to provide a dependable and credible reference point for our customers and audiences," he noted. BetMGM makes a good pick, as the company is already live with its sports betting products in 29 North American markets and is set to further expand as well.
The partnership was also commented on and welcomed by BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost who was pleased with the opportunity to see his company secure another major win for its credibility and status in the United States, and well beyond.
"Being a trusted resource within that forum is an important connection to expand our reach, and we look forward to providing content that enhances the organization’s coverage," Provost added. The Associated Press has been firmly at the forefront of sports and sports betting, having provided fixtures to its audiences well before PASPA was repealed in 2018.
In fact, the company has more than 30 years of experience as an odds provider, and it intends to carry on this tradition through this new tie-up.
