  • The collaboration seeks to strengthen pathways for education, internships, scholarships and talent development within esports
  • Executives at Pinion and GEF speak with excitement about the new alliance

The non-governmental organization that convenes the world's esports, the Global Esports Federation (GEF), announced a new agreement with the global talent discovery and student recruitment platform, Pinion.

The deal bolsters esports talent development and education

Under the terms of the new multi-year agreement, announced Thursday, Pinion was designated a GEF Global Impact Partner.

Scott Spinelli, the veteran NCAA Division I basketball coach, founded Pinion in 2011.

At its core, Pinion helps connect students, gamers, athletes and talent with professional and academic opportunities via a comprehensive proprietary technology.

Currently, Pinion supports users in more than 35 countries across the globe and 50+ sports and activity categories, including esports.

Teaming up with GEF, Pinion complements the former's "ecosystem, strengthening pathways for education, scholarships, internships, and career development within the #worldconnected community," as explained in a press release.

The new multi-year alliance is in line with GEF's ongoing dedication to building a healthy, safe and inclusive esports vertical.

At the same time, the collaboration between GEF and Pinion seeks to create new and meaningful opportunities for youth by better connecting talent regardless of background or geography.

"The partnership reflects a shared ambition to create meaningful opportunities for youth through esports, education, and global connectivity, reinforcing GEF’s vision of an interconnected ecosystem founded on the principles of Fair Play, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Innovation," the Federation further explained.

Pinion and GEF share a vision

Scott Spinelli, Pinion's Founder, spoke about the importance of the new collaboration with GEF.

"Together, Pinion and Global Esports Federation share a vision of a world where talent is not defined by geography, economic circumstances, personal connections, or early recognition," he explained.

Moreover, Spinelli pointed out: "Every young person deserves the opportunity to be seen, discovered, and supported in pursuing their goals."

Sir Paul J. Foster, GEF’s President and CEO, shared the optimism and highlighted the role of esports that represents more than competition.

"It’s a catalyst for connection, innovation, education, and opportunity for young people everywhere," he explained, adding that GEF is dedicated to fostering talent from across the globe.

"Through this partnership with Pinion, we are strengthening pathways for the next generation to be discovered, empowered, and connected to opportunities that can shape their futures," Foster outlined.

Last but not least, the executive predicted that the collaboration between GEF and Pinion will play a major role in the building and connecting of global esports systems, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
