South Korea brings esports legend to help tackle problem gambling, protect youth

This is the latest attempt by authorities in South Korea to highlight the issue with illegal online gambling, particularly when it affects young people and underage individuals.

The player has received the latest accolade from South Korea’s National Police Agency and has become an Honorary Police Officer and CyberGambling PreventionAmbassador on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Commenting on the title, Faker said:

"It is an honor to be appointed as an Honorary Police Officer and public ambassador, and I feel a great sense of responsibility that comes with the role. I will actively participate in my duties as an ambassador by helping raise awareness of the dangers of cyber gambling among young people and promoting the voluntary self-reporting program."

Faker is now officially going to aid the police’s efforts in helping drive young people away from potentially dangerousonline gambling activities, with the six-time League of Legends World Cup champion participating in a variety of promotional videos and posters, as well as various campaigns nationwide.
