Two leading betting operators with a strong presence across the United States plan to further solidify their dominance via entry in a new state.
That's the case for DraftKings and FanDuel, which are reportedly planning to roll out their services in Arkansas.
As announced by the local media outlet, KNWA/FOX24, the two companies have filed applications that, if approved, would enable them to join forces with casino sports books in the Natural State, growing their nationwide footprint.
The representative of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, Scott Hardin, confirmed in an interview with the media outlet that both FanDuel and DraftKings may officially enter Arkansas if their application is approved.
Currently, there are three casinos authorized to offer mobile and retail sports betting services.
Those are Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort, Southland Casino and Saracen Casino Resort.
According to Hardin, if the state's gambling watchdog approves the two betting companies' applications, they will have the option to partner with the licensed venues that already offer wagering.
In case DraftKings and FanDuel reach an agreement with the operators, they can potentially unlock co-branding opportunities for mobile betting, the representative explained.
DraftKings and FanDuel both hold a significant share of the nationwide legal betting market.
They both operate in more than two dozen markets and continue to dominate when compared to the third and fourth most popular betting companies.
While the entry of DraftKings and FanDuel in the Natural State is contingent on receiving approval of their license from the Arkansas Racing Commission, the pair needs to also consider the conditions of the contract they may reach with the existing licensees.
There isn't a set deadline for the review of the applications by the gambling watchdog.
However, if the two companies gain entry into Arkansas, they will undoubtedly once again solidify their leadership in the legal betting vertical.
