After rumors surfaced that Fanatics Betting and Gaming has become an "exclusive" multi-year partner for the National Football League (NFL) the league has released an official statement last week, outlining the full extent of these betting partnerships.
Besides Fanatics, the NFL has also added DraftKings and FanDuel as multi-year sports betting partners, with some of these relationship going on since 2021. The renewed partnership extends the alliance as well as outlines the types of events and activations that will be available.
DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics will have presence at NFL tentpole events, including the NFL Draft and Super Bowl, and also work with the league to integrate unique hospitality and VIP experiences.
The brands will be displayed across the NFL digital media properties, and gain access to real-time, official play-by-play statistics, with help from Genius Sports, which is the league’s exclusive data distribution partner.
This data should allow the companies to tailor their offers and bring more worthwhile options to sports fans. NFL EVP and CRO Renie Anderson has welcomed this opportunity and said:
"DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics share our vision for innovation and fan engagement, but most importantly, our commitment to protecting the integrity of the game. We look forward to navigating this next chapter in sports betting together."
The companies were also welcoming of the chance to strengthen their collaboration with the NFL, and further extend their ongoing rapport with the company.
DraftKings CMO Stephanie Sherman has welcomed the opportunity to continue working together with the league.
"That presence is especially meaningful for DraftKings as the #1 sportsbook for live betting, giving fans more ways to engage with every drive, play and moment as it happens. We’re excited to continue bringing that experience to football fans across the country," Sherman noted.
Similar sentiments were shared by FanDuel President Christian Genetski, who said that the company was proud to continue building together with the NFL and was looking to find new ways to allow fans to engage with the game they have come to love.
Not least, there was Fanatics’ CEO Matt King, who added: "This deal underscores our vision for Fanatics as a true digital sports platform -- a single destination where fans can bet, play and engage with the NFL all in one place, making the experience of being a fan better than ever."
The NFL has endorsed sports gambling even though it took a belligerent view on the activity and once called for an integrity fee payable to the league for helping it uphold the integrity of its game.
Since then, the NFL has changed its tune and has passed tighter gambling rules ensuring that it protects the game while benefiting from the commercial incentive that legal sports betting has created.
