  • Toxic players and viewers ruin the experience in many video games, including COD, Battlefield and CS2
  • FACEIT integrity report suggests that adults at age 28 are more likely to be toxic, acknowledging this group as the one with the highest number of bans
  • The same data reveals that as players get older, they are more likely to become toxic

Toxicity in video games has been an issue for decades. From Diablo 2 and Dota to Call of Duty and Counter-Strike lobbies, some players have always thought that their opponents are cheating and have been pretty vocal about it.

While toxic players can be found in nearly every online competitive game, newly released data uncovers intriguing details about the most toxic players in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2).

28-year-olds responsible for the biggest share of toxicity bans

People who have seen the state of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) upon release and had a chance to compare it with its replacement, CS2, will undoubtedly agree that the game has evolved and improved in many ways.

However, while more than a decade has passed since the initial release of the game, toxicity and cheating remain an inseparable part of competitive CS2.

While it is difficult to establish the age of potential cheaters, considering the use of burner accounts, there’s certainly a profile of the usual "toxic" kid in CS2 lobbies.

Oftentimes, gamers consider underage children, or 12-year-olds, as the likely toxic players you may meet in CS2. But a recent report suggests that might not be the case.

According to newly released data from FACEIT, the leading independent, third-party competitive gaming platform, older players are more likely to be toxic.

The gaming platform analyzed data from a total of 155,680 bans imposed due to toxicity, uncovering an interesting trend.

The bans, enforced in the last 12 months, were broken down by age and compared per 1,000 players at each age.

Interestingly, the FACEIT data suggested that the peak of bans per 1,000 players was recorded within the age group of 28-year-olds.

Additional details also raise eyebrows, considering that the age group of 13- to 17-year-olds is responsible for the smallest percentage of bans on FACEIT.

In fact, the released graph points to a tendency for an increasing number of bans with the increase in age, with 28-year-olds representing the peak.
