The leading provider of data analytics for the live streaming and gaming ecosystem and a wholly owned subsidiary of GameSquare Holdings, Stream Hatchet, released a new report, highlighting key trends in esports observed throughout 2025.
Stream Hatchet’s Esports Trends Report analyzed data encompassing esports viewership and tracking tools, outlining interesting trends.
The report reveals that 1,900 tracked esports events in 2025 resulted in 2.7bn total hours watched.
Notably, two fan-favorite games were responsible for nearly half of the watched hours throughout last year.
That’s the case for Counter-Strike and League of Legends, two hit esports titles that accounted for nearly 45% of the total watched hours, or 1.2bn hours watched.

Equally as important, the newly released report acknowledged the importance of co-streaming.
Per the analyzed data, in 2025, co-streaming made up 52.9% of all esports hours watched.
In 2025, mobile esports soared, considering that mobile esports tournaments proven to be more popular with 42,400 average viewers when compared to non-mobile esports events that attracted 38,300 average viewers.
Stream Hatchet’s new report pointed to the evolution of esports tracking tools.
Thanks to dedicated creator tools, companies tacked sponsored creators while at the same time discovering rising talent.
Analysis of chat activity during esports events revealed insights about fan engagement, enabling organizers to better connect to audiences.
Last but not least, updated live dashboards played a major role in tracking real-time and mid-event stats, Stream Hatchet’s report reveals.
Justin Kenna, CEO of GameSquare, spoke about the new report, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.
"According to Stream Hatchet's proprietary data, esports continues to prove that it is one of the most powerful global platforms for audience engagement, with billions of hours watched annually across the world's leading titles, tournaments and creators," he said.
Moreover, Kenna pointed out: "In 2025, this level of engagement exceeded the total hours of live NBA 2025-26 regular season game coverage consumed across linear and streaming platforms, excluding NBA League Pass, in all measured global markets."
In conclusion, the executive acknowledged that the report highlighted the importance of co-streaming, mobile esports and tools that analyze trends among esports fans.
