One Maryland couple is looking forward to purchasing a new home after scoring a multi-million-dollar prize from Mega Millions.
While the Montgomery County family, who chose to remain anonymous, didn't win the game's jackpot, they scored a life-changing $4m tier-two win.
The lucky couple purchased their winning ticket at the Giant grocery store at 13490 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.
They matched all five winning numbers but missed the Mega Ball number from the Mega Millions drawing on March 10, 2026.
Winning a tier-two prize would've usually granted them $1m. However, each $5 Mega Millions ticket offers a random multiplier of at least x2 on non-jackpot prizes.
In the lucky couple's case, their multiplier was x4, which is why their win was increased to $4m.
Speaking to an official from the Maryland Lottery, the fortunate family, who admitted to being weekly Mega Millions players, told an interesting story about the numbers that brought them the life-changing prize.
The couple used a combination of numbers from a quick pick Mega Millions ticket from the previous week that wasn't a winner.
"Something about the numbers the Lottery machine gave us just felt right," one of the pair said.
The other one admitted that while the numbers didn't initially bring a win, they ultimately decided to use them again.
"Our hearts were beating so fast when we realized how much we won," one of the pair admitted.
"We just looked at each other trying to figure out what to say. Neither of us could," they explained.
Asked about their plans for their newfound fortune, the Montgomery County family said they plan to buy a new home.
While they admitted that a new home has been on their wish list for quite some time, now, thanks to the $4m Mega Million prize, they can make that dream come true.
Only recently, an incredibly fortunate Mega Millions player in Illinois took down the game's first jackpot for 2026 for a mind-blowing $536m payday.
After the jackpot was hit, it reset to $50m. With the next Mega Millions drawing scheduled today, $60m or $27.1m in cash will be up for grabs.
