A woman in Des Plaines, Illinois, calling herself "Lady Luck" could hardly believe her luck after she snagged a $20 Illinois Lottery instant ticket, which produced the payout of a lifetime.

The $2,000,000 prize was secured from the fittingly called $2,000,000 Maximum Multiplier Instant Ticket game, with the woman already appearing at the Illinois Lottery’s headquarters to claim the reward and share her thoughts on how it felt to have secured such a payout.

Illinois woman scoops $2M payout

The woman, or Lady Luck, was honest about her win. She had bought the ticket at ZJ’s Pantry Plus Liquors at 699 N. Wolf Rd. in Des Plaines, Illinois, and the store is also going to get a $20,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The winner had a rather difficult time believing what had happened. Even though she had been a frequent player - and visitor to the store in particular- she just couldn’t believe her luck, although this is not the only time she has won big from a lottery game.

Previously, she had scooped a $10,000 prize, but the $2,000,000 is the first time she has secured a top prize outright. The woman, a frequent lottery winner, would have the same ritual: buy a ticket and then get home before scratching it off.

The first time she has won "so many zeroes"

Only this time, her gut told her otherwise, and she checked her ticket right on the spot, realizing that she had won.

"I usually wait until I get home, but for some reason, I decided to scratch off the ticket right then and there. I was flabbergasted when I saw so many zeros," said Lady Luck. "You bet I scanned that ticket to make sure it was a winner. I even asked my brothers to double-check so I knew I wasn’t just seeing things," Lady Luck explained.

Up next, the woman is now determined to treat herself, starting with a trip to the Big Apple, with no other plans publicly shared for the time being. Like most lottery winners, she is bound to set some aside, and perhaps think about other ways to indulge.
