A Florida woman bought a lottery ticket on a whim but ended up scooping $6.25m all the same. The win occurred during the October 25 drawing, and the winner, Robin Glover, 41, has now claimed the prize.
As is customary for most lottery winners, Glover preferred to scoop up the entire prize in one go rather than tap into the annuity option. This has effectively reduced the total sum she now takes home to $3.52m, after federal and state taxes.
She won the prize after buying the ticket from a Publix located at 3900 East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach.
The Florida Lottery has been awarding large sums of money since it was introduced in 1988, with more than 1,100 millionaires minted over that period. The total prizes paid out have accumulated to over $11bn, with the total continuing to grow week in and week out.
Lottery winners are quite common all over the place. A North Carolina grandmother has, for example, won a $272,000 jackpot, using anniversary and birthday numbers, which is a very sensible and common approach to playing the lottery.
Others have turned to ChatGPT for guidance and asked what the best numbers could be.
