Operators of social casino games and sweepstakes announced the launch of the Social and Promotional Gaming Association (SPGA), a new industry body.
The newly formed Association seeks to provide education and information regarding social casino games while highlighting their compliance in jurisdictions across the globe.
The popular social casino games are often referred to as sweepstakes games.
Unlike online gambling activities, sweepstakes games provide players with options to participate without the need to spend money.
Usually, social casino games use virtual currency and do not pay out monetary prizes.
On the other hand, promotional games also do not require real money to participate in but can grant different prizes.
The SPGA will focus on several main goals, including collaborating with gambling regulators, customers as well as other industry stakeholders.
This close collaboration is expected to help stakeholders better understand the social casino games vertical.
Nearly a dozen sweepstakes and social casino game operators helped found the Association.
The list includes recognizable companies such as FSG Digital, Blazesoft, Gold Coin Group, Fliff, KHK Games, High 5 Entertainment, Kickr Games, Woopla Gaming and Rolling Riches, among others.
Seth Schorr, FSG Digital's CEO, explained in a statement what the goals of the SPGA will be.
"The formation of the SPGA is a critical step toward establishing a clear and cohesive voice for the social sweepstakes industry," he said.
Additionally, Schorr pointed out: "By creating this association, we are committed to helping regulators and policymakers understand how our industry's products work and how they comply with the appropriate state and federal laws."
Camilla Wright, a spokesperson for the SPGA and a part of Red Knot Communications, also commented on the topic.
"The SPGA is committed to fostering a cohesive industry voice through collaboration among member companies," she explained.
Wright added: "Our goal is to provide forums for sharing knowledge and best practice mutual support and to create an environment that puts consumers first."
The SPGA will launch its initiative by organizing a webinar on October 1, 2024.
This event will help gather industry experts who will focus on the future of social casino games and discuss important developments in the sector.
Topics that will be discussed during the webinar will include best practices, emerging trends and other important related aspects that focus on the sustainable growth of social and promotional games.
Additionally, within the Association, there will be different committees that will focus on important areas for the sector's expansion, including compliance with regulationsand player safeguards.
