The global company that provides high-quality land-based lottery and iGaming testing services, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), announced it expanded its Australian management-level team. The company said Tuesday it hired the services of Barrie Wilson. As a part of GLI, Wilson will serve as Manager of Client Services. He will be spearheading the company's iGaming, lottery and land-based operations within the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Wilson will be based within GLI's lab located in Sydney, Australia.
In a press release dated July 26, 2022, Samantha Powell, the General Manager for APAC at GLI, said that it is thrilling to have Wilson join the company. Moreover, she said: "His diverse background of leadership and business will be extremely beneficial to GLI's clients." Last but not least, Powell revealed: "In particular, his abilities to help people grow beyond their current borders and to explore new territories will be very helpful to clients who want to expand their footprint."
Before joining GLI, Wilson served as a Professional Year Instructor at Performance Education in Sydney. In that position, he helped with integrating strategies and training students that would become a part of the business-level workforce in Australia.
For three years and two months, Wilson held the position of Management Certificate Trainer at the Atwea College in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Until July 2019, for seven months, he was a Training Specialist at Queen Anne English College.
Wilson's professional background includes nearly a year and a half until April 2018 as a Store Manager at Woolworths Supermarkets. His professional background also includes management-level positions as a part of Woolworths Group, Woolworths Ltd and Woolworths Limited for more than two decades. In terms of education, Wilson has a Master of Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM).
Earlier this month, GLI announced another leadership-level appointment. The company unveiled it selected Ginnie Hollis to serve as its Director of Engineering. Before taking the position of Director of Engineering, Hollis was a part of GLI as Senior Manager of Engineering. With that in mind, she first joined GLI nearly two decades ago back in 2005.
Back in June, GLI celebrated a landmark moment for its Africa-facing operations. On June 30, 2022, the company announced it reached 100 employees based in its office located in South Africa. At the time, GLI Africa confirmed that it expanded its workforce by hiring 58 new employees in the last year alone. According to the company, the expanded workforce will help "GLI customers in Africa and across the globe."
