One of the most prominent NFL wide receivers, Justin Jamal Jefferson, has caught the news of reporters once again for his obvious absence from recent Super Bowl events as a spectator. He was still showing up at various events during the Big Game weekend, however.
Commenting on it recently, the Minnesota Vikings player, said that the reason for his notable absence was that he wanted to have his first Super Bowl as part of the NFL in attendance as a player, not a spectator.
I don’t ever go to the game," the player told OK!, a publication. Even when the geography aligns with his personal and professional lives, Jefferson is still reluctant to attend what is largely celebrated as the biggest game on the sports calendar in the United States.
"I want my first experience to be when I’m playing, not in the stands, on the sideline. So I don’t go to the game," he added. Jefferson, however, will still have a long way to go before he can pull it off.
The Vikings played a rather difficult season in the 2025/26 season, with the team ending up with 9 wins and 8 defeats overall, and failing to make the playoff cut. Jefferson regretted how things turned out, and said it was hard to see his team lose and also not make the playoffs.
Instead of giving in, though, the athlete said that the Vikings are already training for the new season. The player himself is getting prepared mentally, and also spending quality time with friends and family.
Coping with the pressure during an NFL game is also no easy thing, with the athlete highlighting the heavy toll football games have on players, both mentally and physically.
According to him, the important thing is to take each game as it comes and focus on it entirely. Dwelling on results does not help, unless you actually make it into the Playoffs and Super Bowl.
"Once you get to the playoffs and the Super Bowl, that’s when it hits you more. But during the 17- or 18-week season, you just try to make the most of each opportunity," the player told the publication.
