An 81-year-old lottery player from Hartford County, Maryland, became the latest person to win a top prize from one of Maryland Lottery's instant games.

On Thursday, the Lottery confirmed the name of the lucky winner, Lloyd Harless, who scored a $50,000 top prize from the popular scratch-off game, Gold Bar Bingo.

The man, who is a veteran of the US Air Force, purchased his $5 ticket from Aberdeen Shell at 1026 Middleton Road in Harford County.

To his surprise, he scored the second top prize from Gold Bar Bingo, a sweet $50,000.

The retailer that sold the winning $50,000 lottery ticket will benefit from a $500 bonus from the Michigan Lottery.

The elderly winner may travel across the world

Harless recently visited the Lottery headquarters to claim his prize, as announced in a statement.

When asked what he plans to do with the unexpected windfall, the 81-year-old man said that he hasn't decided yet.

Still, Harless hinted that he may consider visiting some interesting parts of the world.

Although the lottery player traveled across the globe when he was younger, the man accumulated such a long list of places he wanted to visit that he stopped writing them down.

Laughingly, Harless explained: "My bucket list has gotten so big that I had to dump it out and start all over again."

After purchasing the lottery ticket, the Aberdeen resident asked a clerk at a gas station to check his ticket.

Once the clerk scanned the ticket, he started jumping with excitement and congratulating Harless on the $50,000 win.

However, the fortunate winner was confused initially, saying that he didn't understand what happened.

"It took a while for me to find out that I won," said the 81-year-old man.

Gold Bar Bingo grants a chance for a range of prizes

The Maryland Lottery's Gold Bar Bingo scratch-off ticket offers players a chance to win prizes between $5 and $50,000.

The game was released in mid-July and launched with a total of eight prizes of $50,000 each.

After the most recent win, there are six top prizes up for grabs.

Upon launch, Gold Bar Bingo offered a total of ten prizes of $10,000 each.

After two of the $10,000 prizes have been won, eight remain in play.

The Maryland Lottery's Gold Bar Bingo scratch-off ticket offers overall odds of 1 in 3.83.
