Light & Wonder adds Michael Marchetti to Board of Directors

The leading cross-platform global games company, Light & Wonder, announced an important senior-level appointment. Earlier this week, the company confirmed it appointed Michael Marchetti as a member of its Board of Directors.

Upon announcing the latest appointment, Light & Wonder confirmed that it will be in effect as of January 15, 2024. Additionally, the company said that Marchetti will be eligible for re-election at the company's annual meeting scheduled this year.

Joining the Board of Directors isn't the first time the experienced executive collaborated with Light & Wonder. Marchetti previously held the role of director with SciPlay Corporation. Back in October, Light & Wonder acquired the remaining public shares of the aforementioned company.

As a part of Light & Wonder's Board of Directors, Marchetti brings extensive experience after holding important roles with companies within the gaming and financial vertical. He has a track record and is a proven leader after holding senior-level roles with industry giants, including Electronic Arts, Merrill Lynch and Bufalo Studios. Moreover, Marchetti currently holds the role of CFO with Age of Learning, Inc., a leading education technology innovator focused on innovative learning.

In a statement released by Light & Wonder, Marchetti commented: "I’m excited to join the Light & Wonder Board at this time." Finally, he pointed out: "Light & Wonder is operating from a position of strength, and I look forward to applying my experience and passion for the business, along with my fellow directors, to deliver value to the shareholders of this great company."

Jamie Odell, Light & Wonder's Executive Chair, added: "We are pleased to welcome Michael to the Light & Wonder Board as a new independent director." Finally, he explained: "Michael has a wealth of mobile gaming experience and a strong financial background that will help us continue to maximize value for our shareholders."

Recently, Light & Wonder grew its North American footprint. Back in December, the company confirmed that Playzido content will be able to reach new customers in Ontario, Canada. Known as the most populous province in the country, Ontario has established a competitive online gambling market. Announcing the debut of Light & Wonder in the province, the company's Managing Director for Canada, Byron Bridger, praised the unique opportunity the company is facing.

Besides Ontario, Light & Wonder grew its US footprint recently by teaming up with BetRivers in Michigan, agreeing to supply games for the operator from its Authentic Gaming studio.
