The leading online gaming and betting company in North America, FanDuel, announced multiple initiatives and financial support, focusing on raising awareness of responsible play. The exciting activations come during Problem Gambling Awareness Month and complement the global sustainability plan by FanDuel's parent company, Flutter. Recognized as the Positive Impact Plan, Flutter anticipates the promotion of responsible gaming with a goal of seeing 50% of FanDuel's customers use a responsible gaming tool by 2026.
One of the recent initiatives is a partnership between FanDuel and the pioneering mental health service provider, Kindbridge Behavioral Health. The duo joined forces for a pilot program that will be available to self-excluded players in Ohio and New Jersey. Such players are going to be able to access a wide range of peer support and educational groups, helping them recover. Moreover, players who self-exclude from FanDuel in the two states can also undergo a complimentary mental health assessment.
Besides the collaboration with Kindbridge, FanDuel confirmed it will donate $150,000 to the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG). The generous donation will support the NCPG's Agility Grants program, an initiative funded by the NFL Foundation and the NFL.
Besides support for the NCPG's Agility Grants program, FanDuel confirmed it will donate $150,000 to an organization that focuses on helping people and their families who have been impacted by gambling harm and problem gambling, the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG). Currently, ICRG helps treat and prevent gambling harm via evidence-based educational programs and scientific research.
Alison Kutler, FanDuel's Vice President, Sustainability and Responsible Gaming, shared her excitement on the topic in a statement. "Our team works year-round at FanDuel to equip and support our customers to play responsibly," she explained. Finally, Kutler said: "As we mark Problem Gambling Awareness Month, I'm excited to work with a growing roster of partners to expand access to problem gambling support resources."
Daniel Umfleet, Kindbridge's CEO, added that it is thrilling to join forces with FanDuel and provide much-needed support for people who need it most. "This collaboration is deeply resonant, extending a compassionate hand to those navigating the complex terrain of problem gambling," he added.
Keith Whyte, NCPG's Executive Director, was just as excited, speaking about the importance of investment when it comes to cushioning the impact and treating gambling-related harm. "We appreciate FanDuel's support of NCPG and their proactive and collaborative approach to providing problem gambling prevention, research and treatment resources," he explained.
In addition to the aforementioned donations and collaboration, FanDuel confirmed that it seeks to reward consumers who use responsible gaming tools such as wager, deposit and time limits. Throughout this month, customers in Phoenix, Chicago and Washington DC, who show a FanDuel employee that they are using a responsible gaming tool will be awarded a FanDuel "Play Well" branded gift, acknowledging their responsible play.
