A recognizable betting and gaming operator, along with its parent company, announced a donation to help wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles.
The start of the new year brought a lot of hardships and pain to residents of the Los Angeles area after the eruption of wildfires that quickly spread despite the firefighters' efforts.
Recognized as one of the biggest tragedies in the United States, the wildfires cost the lives of at least two dozen people, while thousands of homes have been destroyed.
While the wildfires initially started to spread from different areas, heavy winds exacerbated the issue, destroying thousands of homes and vehicles in the Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, among other areas.
A handful of buildings were left standing after the devastating fires while firefighters still try to extinguish flames in the Los Angeles area.
Amid the raging wildfires, FanDuel, the famous betting and gaming company, as well as its parent, Flutter Entertainment, and subsidiary Flutter International, announced a donation to help support wildfire relief efforts.
The companies donated $250,000 to Americares and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation in an effort to help affected communities in the greater Los Angeles area, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.
Amy Howe, FanDuel's CEO, said on the topic: "FanDuel and Flutter have been proud members of the Los Angeles business community for over two decades."
In addition, the executive pointed out: "We are heartbroken by the devastating loss these wildfires have created in a community we call home."
"We are committed to ensuring our employees are safe and making sure the community has the resources it needs to support the heroic efforts of our first responders," Howe said in conclusion.
Flutter's FanDuel TV, formerly known as TVG, is based in Culver City.
In addition, FanDuel has a long history in the city, dating back to 2014. Culver City is where strategic commercial and corporate operations, supporting its online betting, iGaming and daily fantasy sports are located.
Overall, FanDuel has close to 400 employees from the Los Angeles area and some have already been affected by the devastating wildfires.
Early last month, FanDuel strengthened its government relations team after confirming a couple of important appointments.
At the time, the company revealed it hired Louis Trombetta and James Hartmann.
