Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, published new data, highlighting the performance of licensed gambling operations in October.
The newly disclosed report suggested that while betting revenue in October decreased by nearly 50% year-over-year, the overall gambling spend dipped by less than 4% when compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
In total, the regulated Danish gambling sector, including land-based bingo, casinos, betting and online casino, reported DKK 599m ($93.3m) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in October 2025.
Compared to the DKK 620m ($96.6m) figure from October 2024, the latest result points to a decrease of 3.4% year-over-year.
A statement released by the Danish Gambling Authority explains that the decrease in the total gambling market was due to "a large fluctuation in the betting market in October 2025 compared to October 2024."
While the betting vertical reported a notable decrease in revenue during October, other sectors such as land-based gambling and online casinos performed well, posting increases year-over-year.
Per Spillemyndigheden's data, GGR from the betting sector halted at DKK 112m ($17.4m) this October.
In contrast, the GGR posted in October 2024 was DKK 208m ($32.4m), a figure that points to a significant decrease of more than 46% year-over-year in October.
Unlike the betting vertical, online gambling GGR performed exceptionally well in October.
In total, online casino GGR soared by 24.43% this October to DKK 356m ($55.5m), when compared to the DKK 286m ($44.5m) result from the same month in 2024.
The GGR posted by gaming machines this October was DKK 97m ($15.1m), a figure that points to a 0.60% year-over-year increase.
Equally as important, land-based casinos posted strong results this October.
In total, land-based casino GGR increased by 5.99% year-over-year to DKK 31m ($4.8m) in October this year.
Besides the performance of the regulated gambling sector in October, Spillemyndigheden's data uncovered details regarding the number of self-exclusion registrations with ROFUS.
In October, the Authority recorded 66,314 registered individuals.
Compared to the 55,899 registrations from October 2024, a positive trend in the number of registrations is observed.
As of October this year, the number of permanently self-excluded people was 42,789, while the number of temporarily self-excluded people was 23,525.
