The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, recently published new data, revealing a notable decrease in gross gaming revenue (GGR) reported in June compared to the same period last year.
The new report emerged on Wednesday, confirming a nearly 20% decrease in total GGR.
In total, the GGR reported by the licensed gambling sector in the country this June halted at DKK 585m ($91m).
A year-over-year comparison to the corresponding period in 2024 reveals a notable decrease of 17%.
The latest monthly statistics by the Danish Gambling Authority provides a breakdown of the total GGR for June.
Concerningly, the biggest year-over-year decrease was recorded by the betting vertical. The betting GGR this June fell by 53.5% to DKK 126m ($19.6m).
Explaining the decrease, the country's gambling regulator wrote:" The large decrease may be due to the fact that the European Football Championship was held in June 2024."
A smaller decrease year-over-year was observed in terms of gaming machines' GGR.
Per the latest monthly statistics, gaming machines' GGR in June halted at DKK 92m ($14.3m). This figure, compared to the corresponding period in 2024, points to a 6.5% decrease.
Land-based casino games also posted a decrease year-over-year. In total, land-based casino revenue in June halted at DKK 32m ($5m), down by 2.2% year-over-year.
The newly released data reveals that land-based bingo reported DKK 2m ($311,100) revenue in June.
Despite the decrease in several operating segments, a notable increase was observed in online casino revenue.
In total, online casino operators posted DKK 333m ($51.8m) revenue in June.
A year-over-year comparison shows a 10% increase in online casino revenue.
What's more, online casino games were responsible for the lion's share of the total GGR, with this segment representing 49.92% of the total revenue.
Besides statistical data about revenue reported by the gambling sector in Denmark, the newly released report discloses information about the country's national self-exclusion register, ROFUS.
The total registered persons with ROFUS as of June 2025 were 62,400, per Spillemyndigheden's data.
This figure points to a steady growth trajectory with a year-over-year increase.
As of June 2025, the permanently registered persons with ROFUS were 40,160, while temporary individuals registered with the program were 22,240.
The majority of the registrations, or 78.38%, belong to men, while women's registrations amounted to 21.62% of the total.
