75-year-old senior lottery winner

A Pennsylvania senior has had a sudden spot of good luck after a recent spell of hardship, as Donna Osborne, 75, won a $5m lottery prize from a MONOPOLY Own It All Scratch-Off ticket. The cash prize coincided with her birthday and was a good turn of fortunes for the woman who recently finished radiation treatment for breast cancer.

The winning ticket was sold at the Speedway gas station in Leola, Lancaster County in the Keystone State, with the facility scooping up a $10,000 premium on selling the winning ticket.

Celebrating Osborne’s birthday with a $5-million lottery prize

The unexpected win caught Osborne by surprise, with the woman talking to the Pennsylvanian Lottery and describing her incredulity at first learning about that she had won, and the peculiar circumstances that led to her decision to buy the ticket in the first place.

"I was at the airport with my daughter. We were on our way to see family in Florida when the flight got delayed. Well, it was delayed so many times, I decided to go home. My daughter stayed and flew to Florida," she mused, adding that had she not decided to go home, she would never have bought the winning ticket that led to the life-changing prize.

Osborne, though, is not going to stop being active in her community, she assured, quoted by the lottery press statement. She already has plans about what to do with the money, showing an acumen for managing her finances and vowing to invest some of the money, and use some of it to go to Alaska.

Pennsylvania Lottery cheers for its latest jackpot winner

Pennsylvania Lottery Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne welcomed Osborne on her incredible story of how she came into the possession of the ticket, and added that he was pleased to see the state lottery offer another senior the opportunity to lead a better life.

Osborne herself has been a long-time lottery player, with limited success, but it’s thanks to committed players, that the lottery has the funds to offer its multi-million prizes, Browne explained. He also cheered at the opportunity to see Osborne win on the occasion of her birthday, making the win all the more special.

This is not the last good story you will hear coming out of the Pennsylvania Lottery either, as another person won $400,000 on the Cash 5 game over the weekend. This comes on top of similar news that a $1-million lottery jackpot ticket was sold in Adams County last week. The ticket was for the Million Dollar Cashfall game.
