  • Royal Caribbean is investing more in non-smoking gaming facilities at sea
  • The company’s Allure of the Seas was in operation while a new casino was built on board, replacing two former venues
  • The new casino features slots almost exclusively and does not allow smoking

Royal Caribbean continues to focus on renovating its ships, with a strengthening focus on offering non-smoking casino options. The Allure of the Seas has received a non-smoking gaming floor, as per a blog post shared on Royal Caribbean Blog, an unofficial blog about the company’s cruises.

Royal Caribbean double down on non-smoking casinos

The Allure of the Seas remained in operation while work was going to convert two venues onboard into a single casino gaming floor. The Blaze and Comedy Live were closed and demolished in order to make space for the new gaming space, leading to a significantly expanded gaming floor footprint, as the company may expect to have higher demand for this particular sector.

The shift towards a non-smoking option also illustrates shifting consumer preferences, with more people preferring that their gaming sessions go without second-hand smoke, although the debate is still raging on the mainland, with traditional land-based casino properties reluctant to completely snuff out smoking.

The new gaming work already builds on the company’s legacy of offering non-smoking gaming options, with Allure of the Seas featuring a non-smoking casino on the former Jazz on 4 location that was converted in 2023, the unofficial blog post read.

According to the unofficial blog, the new casino location onboard will allow transit of under-18 individuals through the deck, but no such individual may linger at the casino. The new casino also focuses on slot gameplay almost exclusively, with a handful of table games also available.

In 2025, Royal Caribbean converted part of the Utopia of the Seas' casino into a non-smoking gaming area as well, which also marked a shift in the company's treatment of gaming patrons, recognizing changing consumer behavior.
