  • Maverick Gaming has announced further permanent closures of eight locations in Washington
  • The decision will affect 850 people by November 30, 2026, with the first closures happening on November 1, 2026
  • Since a plan to restructure the company’s debt in 2024 was first introduced, with more closures have occurred since then than those announced just recently

Maverick Washington LLC has confirmed that it will be shuttering eight casino locations, putting as many as 850 people out of work.

This is not surprising, as the company, Maverick Gaming, has operated under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since 2025 following a 2024 debt restructuring plan, and has already closed five locations since April.

Maverick Washington confirms it will be shuttering eight locations

The closures will take place through November 30, 2026, and will affect well-known locations such as Great American Casino in Everett, Chip’s Casino, Macau Casino and Palace Casino in Lakewood, All Star Casino in Silverdale, Casino Caribbean in Yakima, Crazy Moose Casino in Pasco, and Coyote Bobs Casino in Kennewick.

The first properties to close as early as November 1, 2026 are the Tukwila properties, which will put 238 people out of jobs.

The closures have been confirmed with Washington’s Employment Security Department, which has been notified of the change confirming that these are permanent shutterings of operations.

The only way to reverse this would be through a new owner who would be willing to keep the properties up and running, as confirmed by Maverick Washington LLC Human Resources Director Christine Wisniewski.

"Maverick Washington LLC is currently subject to a bankruptcy proceeding and, as part of that proceeding, there could be a potential change of operator and/or owner for the site," Wisniewski noted.

New owners may reverse some of the job losses and take over the locations

The outlook for this, however, does not appear reassuring, but Wisniewski said information will be provided if and when it becomes available:

"If the site is transitioned to a new owner/operator, the above-referenced closure may not occur, or alternatively, the closure could be delayed. We will provide updated information to you in the event that occurs."

The cardroom casinos have faced difficulties in Washington following a notice by the Washington Gaming Commissioners to shut down the centralized surveillance system, leading to a sequence of events that have had a knock-on effect on operations and are resulting in the most recent layoffs.
