Heart-shaped Vegas casino resort gets green light near Mandalay Bay

The Strip is set to get a new casino after Clark County commissioners voted to approve the site of a new future property on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip across from Mandalay Bay.

This signals confidence in the vibrancy of the local gaming and hospitality market, despite falling live dealer numbers and a slight reduction in casino footfall caused by the tourist exodus over the past months.

New property to sport a signature heart-shaped facade

However, Sin City is betting big on its future, with a new property set to join the market at a time when it is supposed to pick up.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal provided additional details about a project pitched by Eli Applebaum, a developer, which is aiming to build a hotel resort on a 12-acre property on Las Vegas Boulevard, complete with a 752-room hotel.

The signature feature of the new property would be its heart-shaped facade, which will be covered in LED screens, as the latest touch of extravagance, opulence, and flashiness in Las Vegas.

The site has been scouted out by prospective investors and developers for many years. In fact, the lot has been explored as the location of a new property or complex since at least 2010, with an original plan for a London-themed casino resort, which never mustered support.

A property is finally going to take place in the spot

It took several changes of ownership before Applebaum finally acquired the 12 acres and obtained the go-ahead to push forward with its own plans to complete the property.

This will be the newest project to join the famous area of the city, with Resorts World Las Vegas opening in 2021, and the Fontainebleau arriving just a few years later in 2023.
