For rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, or as fans and critics know him, Drake, it has been the best of times and the worst of times. After Kendrick Lamar won the rap battle of the age, Drake returned to his upbeat self, releasing singles and LPs, and placing bets.
His most recent one, a $1m on the Patriots to stomp the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 2026 on Sunday, February 8, came up short, however, with netizens poking fun at the artist and talking up the infamous "Drake curse," the public perception that if Drake bets on you, you will end up losing.
The rapper has kept his cool about these comments, and he has sometimes commented on his gambling style, advising anyone watching not to try to do the same thing as he does.
Drake has spoken that his gambling comes down to personal liking and sympathy for teams and athletes, rather than cold logic, which is usually the hallmark of a successful gambler.
His most recent wager is an indication of his style of gambling, with the Seahawks triumphing over their opponents with a clean 29-13 in a slightly anti-climactic Big Game.
Drake, though, made his customary social media appearance on the day before - Saturday, February 7 - announcing via his online handles that he had made the bet and "dared" anyone to bet against him.
Netizens took this with a good deal of mirth, clapping back at the rapper and reminding him of the curse. Should he have succeeded, however, Drake would have been looking at a $2,950,000 payout, a rather tidy payout by all accounts.
Internet locals heaped all sorts of commentary, with some suggesting that "the bro had lost the battle before it even began" while others saying that they were still rooting for him, but that his gambling was indeed scarred by the presumed curse.
However, one interesting point is that the rapper placed his bet via Stake.com, a platform he began partnering with in 2022. In September 2025, he removed references to the brand from his social media accounts, and he is also named as a co-defendant in at least one lawsuit involving Internet personality Adin Ross and the platform itself.
Well, the rapper appears to be back on it all the same. Drake is specifically named in a class-action lawsuit, which was filed in December, with the plaintiffs alleging that the rapper was "promoting an illegal online casino," referring to the brand. Stake flatly denied the accusations.
