An Illinois player had much to be content about over the weekend as they had won a $1.3m jackpot from the state’s Lucky Day Lotto game. A ticket purchased on Saturday, August 17 at Shop & Save Market, located at 5829 South Archer Avenue in Chicago, turned out to be everything the lucky player had hoped for.
With winning numbers of 10, 11, 19, 33, and 35, the player turned their small purchase into a seven-figure win. This is the sixth player to have won more than $1m from the draw and marks an important milestone for the lottery, which continues to come up with different games to reward players.
The player themselves were not named by the lottery and not much else has been said about the winner so far. The Shop & Save market will of course have plenty of reason to celebrate, as it will be getting a $13,000 cut from selling the winning ticket.
Illinois has repeatedly been a place where big jackpots have dropped, incentivizing locals to try their luck harder at winning the next prize. In most of these cases, the wins have occurred completely randomly and unexpectedly.
Most of the players, however, had one thing in common – they had been playing over an extended period, and consistently, usually for years. One anonymous winner who posed behind a huge King of Cash check, managed to turn $30 in lottery tickets into a $3,000,000 payday.
Another resident was also happy to find out that they had won a similarly proportional prize – turning her $2 ticket into a mighty $2m cashout. In the meantime, a 72-year-old woman also flipped a lottery ticket into a massive $1m lottery.
